♟️ Summer Weekly Classical Chess League

The weekly CFC rated classical league will run on Sunday evenings throughout July and August. You don't have to commit to the full summer to play—you can join us for a single game, a few weeks, or the entire series!

Here are all the details:

📍 Location & Format

  • Venue: Engineering Cafeteria, MUN, St. John's

  • Format: CFC-rated Classical (Swiss pairings)

  • Time Control: 60 minutes + 5-second increment per game

  • Equipment: Boards and sets are fully provided.

📅 Schedule & Timing

  • Dates: Weekly on Sundays, beginning July 12 through the end of August.

  • Exceptions: We will play every Sunday except on weeks where Ryan runs the Bannerman Rapid (expect roughly 5 to 7 games total for the league).

  • Check-in: 6:00 PM

  • Round Start: 6:30 PM

  • Attendance Flexibility: Show up to as many or as few Sundays as you would like. To make sure nobody gets stuck with a bye, I will be organizing and playing as the float player when needed.

💰 Entry Fees & CFC Membership

  • League Entry Fee: A one-time fee of $4 covers your rating fees for the entire duration of the league.

  • CFC Membership: A valid, unexpired Chess Federation of Canada (CFC) membership is required to play.

    • Annual Membership: $44/year for adults | $29/year for juniors

    • Single Tournament Fee: $20 for adults | $10 for juniors
